Scandstick invests in JURMET slitters
Scandstick AB, based in Höganäs, Sweden, has recently invested in two JURMET heavy duty slitters MASTER2. One of them has been already delivered to the factory in Poland, while the second one will be installed in Höganäs, Sweden, within the next few days.
Scandstick has a long history and tradition in the self-adhesive industry and developing high performance self-adhesive materials including paper, films, thermal, thermal transfer and tags for many critical applications within food, health, logistic, beverages, durable, chemical, and industry areas. The Scandstick Group is one of Europe’s leading manufactures of self-adhesive label stock materials for the label printing industry. It was founded in 1981 by Sten-Inge Fredin and his wife Gunnel and is experiencing constant growth. Over the years, the company has developed dynamically and today Scandstick factories are located in Höganäs (Sweden), Aalst (Belgium), Celje (Slovenia) and Brwinow (Poland).
Due to the dynamic development and increasing demand for slitting 2-meter large rolls, Scandstick decided to continue cooperation of its Polish branch with JURMET and ordered a slitter for its Swedish branch as well. Both machines ordered by Scandstick are characterized by a high degree of automation including automatic knives setting with material placed in slitting section, vacuum splicing table, programmable laser core setting for core, pushing bar, or dynamic supports activated during rewinding and unloading process.
These heavy duty slitters enable slitting rolls with a width of 2,100 mm into narrow reels and rewinding them to a maximum diameter of 830 mm. Due to the high weight of the slit rolls, JURMET’s engineers have come up with customised solutions helping to unload slit rolls smoothly from the rewinding shafts to the automatic handling and next to the automatic trolley. The unloading process is controlled by an advanced software developed in-house.
Recently, JURMET has finalized many installations of paper machines, including craft paper, siliconized 1-sided paper, and various types of paper used in a packaging industry. The machines ordered by Scandstick belong to the wide portfolio of machines offered by JURMET, including all types of slitters, rewinders and core cutters from entry level to high end versions. Sample machines, including a slitter rewinder and one of the models of core cutters, will be presented at the upcoming K-2022 trade fair, which will be held in October 2022 in Düsseldorf, Germany (stand No 3G55 in hall 3).
“We hope to successfully complete the installation and implementation of the two slitters, and to keep developing the partnership with JURMET” – says Jonas Blomqvist – Quality Manager in Scandstick AB.
