Slitters with integrated automation of settings

Short production series make it necessary to changeover slitters’ setting frequently in order to adapt them to new jobs. It is the setting of machines that is responsible for the decrease in efficiency and downtime. Integrated automation of machine settings is essential to reduce time required for machine set-up. Smart Converting solutions based on a high degree of automation are a new reality in the era of opportunities offered by Industry 4.0.

Smart Converting solutions in Jurmet's slitters

As part of the Smart Converting solutions, JURMET introduced the possibility of automatic change of the slitting width in slitters by synchronizing the settings of the driven web guiding system, automatic knives and the laser beam for positioning the cores. Once entered, the settings can be saved as part of a recipe and used again later. In addition, depending on a slitter model,  the integrated control system allows to remember the position of the banana rolls as part of the recipe, and automatic detection of the flag / marker located in the mother roll. This modern solution has been developed by the JURMET R&D Department and is constantly being improved. According to simulations carried out by JURMET for a 1300 mm large slitter slitting material into 7 pieces, Smart Converting solutions reduce the changeover time by 54%.
